The quality of teaching on my course at Surrey was superb. The lecturers always seemed to have time for their students, and genuinely seemed interested in delivering a great learning experience. Everyone was so friendly and the course content was really interesting.
During my course I became more interested in the practical and technological aspects of chemistry. This is mostly due to my placement year at Perkin-Elmer, where I was given the opportunity to get involved in programming and data analysis, among other things.
I’m currently studying for a PhD in Chemistry here at Surrey. The opportunity to discover something that has never been seen before in the universe is what drives me. I find my research highly stimulating. My advice to students hoping to do a PhD would be to get the best degree you can and diversify your skills.
