Georgia Stavrou

COURSE:

BSc Biomedical Science, Class of 2016

I chose to study at Surrey because the modules on the course seemed interesting to me. A major advantage was the option of doing an industrial placement as part of the course, which definitely played a major part in me being accepted onto both of my postgraduate degrees.

The best thing about my course was that it involved studying a variety of subjects, although mostly focused on microbiology. The lecturers and professors were very kind and supportive, and truly loved teaching. At Surrey I definitely became more mature, responsible and professional.

I am now a PhD student. I enjoy learning something new every day and reading around my subject, as well as challenging myself. My placement year experience, working at Pfizer, gave me a major advantage when applying for my PhD. My advice to students would be to take every opportunity to enhance your skills with extracurricular activities.
