I wanted to study mathematics in an effort to keep my options open after university. When I visited Surrey it just felt right, and I was impressed by the focus on employability.
The best thing about my course was the modules on applied mathematics, particularly fluid dynamics. This was already an area of interest for me, and eventually inspired my aerodynamics-focused dissertation. During my time at Surrey I developed as a person in a number of ways. I learned how to be an adult and discovered new interests that would lead me to the career I have now.
I just finished a masters in broadcast journalism and I’m about to start work as an ITV News trainee. My involvement in Surrey’s student radio station Stag Radio was vital in securing the job I have now. If it weren’t for this experience, I would not have made it onto my masters course or successfully applied for the ITV traineeship.
