My experiences at Surrey shaped me to become the person I am today. The highlight of these four years was the opportunity to meet, work and become friends with a diverse group of individuals. I have learned a lot from my peers who came from varied backgrounds and had interesting life stories. My advice to future students is to be open to new experiences and get involved in as many extracurricular activities as you can to help you figure out what you really love doing.
The opportunity to pursue a placement year was a valuable addition to my degree that allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge to practice and add work experience to my CV. On top of that, the electives in my final year were most rewarding and defined the direction of my career.
I currently work at the largest global commercial real estate services and investment firm CBRE (Kyiv, Ukraine) as a Senior Analyst in the Marketing & Research Department. I first got acquainted with the company during my final year at University, when we had guest lecturers from CBRE London office. It also gave me a strategic advantage in the application process. When I started working, I realised that both hard and soft skills gained at Surrey prepared me for real-life situations I daily face at work.
