I chose to study at the University of Surrey because I liked the option of a year in industry to build my skills. I was also impressed by the employment rate for students. The best thing about my course was the variety of modules and the option to focus on specific areas of mathematics.
During my time at Surrey I became more confident as a person. I was supported in a way that allowed me to flourish academically. Surrey made me realise that real joy can be found in connecting with people. As a result, all of my jobs so far have been in the public sector and education.
I am now an NHS commissioner and I do private tutoring in the evenings too. The best part of both of my jobs is helping people.
