I chose to study at the University of Surrey because I already knew that I wanted to go to a university that supported a placement year in industry. Surrey not only supported this, but actively encouraged it.
The best things about my course were the lecturers and how flexible the course was. During my time at Surrey I developed more confidence and became more independent. I did this by persevering through difficult topics on my course, living on my own for the first time and completing a placement year.
I now work for a company in a financial planning and analysis role. I worked at the company during my placement year after speaking to them at Surrey’s careers fair. After my placement they offered me a job for when I graduated. I was delighted. This eased a lot of the pressure in my final year because I knew I already had a job secured.
